Profits?
Independence?
Hustle?
Big risk?
Uncertainty?
Different people may have different impressions of small businesses, but there's one big question that needs to be asked...
What is the true purpose of a small business?
David Grau Sr. answers that question in his new book, The Stewardship Advantage: A Purpose Driven Strategy for Small Business Owners to Lead with Integrity, Build Trust, and Create Lasting Value.
I'm excited to dive into his book and discover how business owners run their companies and how they can elevate their businesses by being stewards in the community.
Grau is an author and an advocate of small business stewardship across the globe who helps small businesses practice stewardship not only of profits, but also of people, community, and the environment. To learn more about him, please visit his website - https://davidgrausr.com/
In this post, I'm going to share my reflections on the highlights of the book. I hope you’ll join me on this journey, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on what small business stewardship means to you.

Day 7
I've just finished reading the book "The Stewardship Advantage: A Purpose Driven Strategy for Small Business Owners to Lead with Integrity, Build Trust, and Create Lasting Value" by David Grau, and I'm genuinely blown away.
I’ve always been curious about how businesses are created and run, and this book gave me more than I ever expected. I thought I’d learn the basics of business structure or strategy, but what I found was something much deeper.
What really struck me was the idea that a small business doesn’t have to be all about profits. It can actually be built to improve the lives of everyone involved, not just the customers, but also the employees, the suppliers, and the people behind the scenes who help keep it going.
It’s about running a business with the intention to serve. Meeting people’s needs. Supporting your team. Uplifting the community. That perspective changed the way I think about business entirely.
I had no idea you could build something like that, something that’s not just profitable, but meaningful. A business that’s designed to make people’s lives better.
That’s powerful. And honestly, it’s inspiring.
The book is more than just an introduction to stewardship. It also covers the basics of business, things like legal requirements, setting goals, and making plans.
If you’re planning to start a small business, or you already own one, I highly recommend it.
You’ll also see how other businesses have become good stewards in their communities, which is both inspiring and practical.
It’s one of those books that makes you think differently, and honestly, I’m glad I picked it up.
Thank you, David Grau Sr. , for sharing this book with me, for learning how to change our world into a better place through small businesses, and for allowing me to share my thoughts.
